In its latest issue Border Crossings has engaged the subject of monsters in myriad forms, recognizing that they are everywhere: inside, outside, institutional, environmental. We seem to identify and enable the form endlessly.
The current issue looks at all these forms, from an interview with filmmaker Harmony Korine and his beguiling, engaging and shocking ability to read our times and social conditions; to David Altmejd, whose sculptures and installations are horribly, wonderfully beautiful; to Geoffrey James‘s Kingston Penitentiary photographs; to Guy Maddin and friends innocent nighttime wanderings on the frozen surface of Lake Winnipeg; to a startling short story by the award-winning writer Lee Henderson.
There’s a monstrous amount of other ravishing content in the issue.
