ON, OFF, VIA, VERSUS, BESIDE, BEYOND, DESPITE, CONCERNING & UP AGAINST: THE WALL, Published by The CU Art Museum, Boulder CO
In his widely varied approach to wallworks, Peter Wegner integrates aspects of architecture, sculpture and painting. This 128-page survey considers a decade of Wegner’s increasing engagement with the wall as the primary locus of his practice.

WALL-TO-WALL-TO-WALL, The CU Art Museum, Boulder CO
An exhibition consisting of nineteen wallworks by Wegner on three floors of the new museum building. Wegner sites his wallworks in both conventional viewing areas and in unconventional settings such as the preparators’ shop. On November 18th, Wegner will lecture at CUAM about his work and exhibition.

BRAVE W [THE WINNEBAGO PROJECT], The CU Art Museum, Boulder CO
The walls of a 1972 Winnebago Brave, cut loose and suspended from the ceiling of the museum. Wegner considers this work an “un-made readymade,” a piece of iconic mobile architecture reduced to its essentials. This work was commissioned by CUAM for its exhibition “archiTECHtonica.”

THE UNITED STATES OF NOTHING, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
A sixty-foot work wallwork that conjures the American landscape in neon placenames evoking nothingness (Nix, Nada, Nameless). The work was recently acquired by SFMOMA and will remain on view for the duration of the year-long exhibition “The More Things Change.”

IN [ ] VERITAS, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
Wegner charts the wine-related names of 250 house paint colors deriving from twenty different color systems. He then maps the conceptual and linguistic connections between the names in a work that sprawls across three walls and part of the ceiling in the exhibition, How Wine Became Modern: Design + Wine 1976 to Now, opening November 19th.

ABSTRACT – IN RELATION TO WHAT?, Contemporary Forum Lecture, Phoenix Art Museum
Wegner recently considered the problem of abstraction in a slide lecture presented at the Phoenix Art Museum (PAM). Last year, PAM acquired Wegner’s GUILLOTINE OF SUNLIGHT, GUILLOTINE OF SHADE. This sculpture, composed of 1.5 million sheets of paper in forty colors, remains on display at the museum indefinitely.

MONUMENTS TO THE FUTURE, six commissions for the Stanford University Graduate School of Business
Over the last year, Wegner has worked closely with Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business on the development of a new campus, scheduled to open in April. He has been commissioned to realize six artworks to be permanently installed on the new GSB campus.

Wegner’s work can be found in the permanent collections of The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; The Guggenheim Museum, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and The Yale University Art Gallery, among others. Wegner grew up in South Dakota, graduated from Yale, and currently lives in Berkeley, California. http://www.peterwegner.com
