EINA is a benchmark for education in the world of design and art. Since it was founded in 1967, the school has been characterised by its desire to serve the community and its drive for modernity. EINA is also distinguished by its creative freedom and its critical and reflective spirit.
Currently, EINA offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Design with five specialties: Product Design, Design of Spaces, Graphic Design, Visual Creation and Design Culture. It also offers an Official Master’s Degree in Research in addition to other Master’s and postgraduate programs.
EINA has produced numerous generations of creators and professionals who have participated and continue to participate actively in the shaping and renewal of Barcelona’s physical and cultural landscape.
Our goal for the future is to foster the centre’s growth and reach in terms of research, teaching, professional development and creative potential.
About the position
The director must safeguard the centre’s sustainability and oversee continuous improvement in the quality and standards required to provide a first-class education. He or she must ensure the development of research and innovation in a multidisciplinary work environment based on collaboration.
The employment contract’s duration will be for two years, with the possibility of three successive extensions allowing for a maximum term of eight years. Exclusive commitment to EINA is required.
Candidate profile
The successful candidate must have a postgraduate degree or equivalent, extensive professional experience in the school’s academic disciplines and knowledge of quality processes and procedures. Demonstrable experience in project development and management is also required.
Regarding management duties, communication skills, leadership and motivational skills and a focus on multidisciplinary work are essential.
Teaching experience at the university level and professional design connections will be valued positively.
Knowledge of the following languages will also be valued: English, Spanish and Catalan.
The director’s duties
The director shall be responsible for, in addition to respecting the exercise of the powers given to other positions appointed by the centre’s ultimate authority, the EINA Foundation Board of Trustees, the following duties:
–Represent EINA, University School of Design and Art.
–Lead, coordinate and supervise the School’s activities.
–Manage services and ensure the necessary means are present.
–Implement the budget for the School’s different departments and services.
–Recommend the hiring of study coordinators and the creation of committees to the Board of Trustees.
–Implement decisions taken by the Board of Trustees and the standing committee.
–Ensure that School personnel fulfil their duties and that their rights are respected, in accordance with the specific regulations governing such rights.
–Address credit transfer dossiers as requested by the degree coordinator.
–Comply with all duties established in the UAB statutes and regulations thereof, as well as those delegated by the Board of Trustees which are not expressly assigned to other School bodies.
