The CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts is pleased to present a new set of limited editions created by renowned artists who have been part of its recent exhibition program. Read more about all of these at wattis.org/store/editions.

On the occasion of his Capp Street residency, Ryan Gander created an exclusive limited edition for the Wattis: a puzzle that cannot be completed. The title of the work, …and their integrity was uncompromising (2013), and the enclosed handwritten note quoting Menelaus, “May it keep the wolves in the hills and the women in our beds,” offer nothing but misleading—yet tantalizing—clues. In a manner typical of Gander’s work, the piece relies on the spectator’s willingness to engage with both humor and frustration. The incomplete A3 jigsaw, with 33% of its pieces missing, comes in an edition of 15 and is available either framed or in its original puzzle box.

Also devised during her Capp Street residency, Claire Fontaine‘s limited edition Untitled (Two hundred and fifty redeemed cans) (2013) consists of an aluminum ingot bar with the word “REDEMPTIONS” inscribed on the top. Made in an edition of 25, each ingot relates to the weight of a single bag of aluminum cans that hung from the ceiling in the artist’s immersive installation at the Wattis in early 2013.

The Danish artist Simon Dybbroe Møller created a newly commissioned work for the Wattis’s fall 2012 exhibition. Subsequently invited to contribute a limited edition, he responded with a minimal but iconic photograph: an iPhone 5 inside the pocket of a tight, colorful pair of jeans. This chromogenic print, printed at 1:1 scale, is simultaneously representational and abstract, echoing the paradoxes of communication in the age of the smartphone.

Last but not least, the Wattis is very honored to announce the upcoming release of limited editions by the Los Angeles–based artist Ed Ruscha, whose work is currently being presented in the exhibition Codex, and the Lebanese artist Etel Adnan, who was the focus of the 2013 exhibition Etel Adnan: Words and Places, the thesis exhibition of CCA’s Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice.
