The Centre for Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry (CCA) is seeking a new Director to provide strategic and artistic leadership, build on the organisation’s achievements to date and deliver its key objectives.

CCA fosters a wide range of artistic, curatorial, and critical practices through five collaborative and process-driven streams: research and production, exhibition-making, public programmes, publishing, and residencies. Situated in the Cathedral Quarter within the historic city walls of Derry~Londonderry, we address both communities of place and communities of interest, embedding the international in the local and engaging the local in the international. CCA’s mission is to give emerging artists and new curators the best possible tools for developing internationally successful careers in contemporary art, and to offer audiences access to the most relevant and engaging art practices of our times. We give special consideration to practitioners and projects with a connection to our region.

The incoming Director will replace Directors/Curators Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh as they become Co-Directors of the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane, Australia. This call is for the position of Director, one for the Curator will be issued at a later date. During Burns and Lundh’s tenure, CCA has produced exhibitions with such artists as Goldin+Senneby, Jesse Jones, Anja Kirschner and David Panos, Raqs Media Collective, and Haegue Yang. They also organised the first Curatorial Intensive in Europe, with the Independent Curators International, “From ‘Official History’ to Underrepresented Narratives.” Burns and Lundh have also represented CCA on the curatorial team for the 2013 Turner Prize.

Organisational structure
The Director reports to the Board of Directors, who meet on a monthly basis, and is accountable to the principal funding body, The Arts Council of Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing CCA staff, which includes a Curator, Public Programmes Coordinator, Administrator, and numerous casual staff and interns.

Appointment
The appointment is for a three-year period after a six-month probation. The contract can be renewed for a second three-year period. Start date is as soon as possible.
