PALAIS Magazine Issue 18 out now: The magazine of Palais de Tokyo
Highlights of issue 18 include:
– 53 contributions of young curators presenting their exhibition at Palais de Tokyo and in galleries and art spaces all over Paris.
– the issue 7 ½ of the journal The Exhibitionist.
Published at the occasion of Nouvelles vagues, the 2013 summer season of Palais de Tokyo, this issue of PALAIS underlines the importance of the recently defined curator figure and sheds light upon current exhibition practices developed by the latter. In order to testify about this transformation in the art ecosystem, Palais de Tokyo presents the projects of 21 young curators or curator groups (of 13 different nationalities) selected after an international call for proposals, and leads along 32 galleries and art spaces all over Paris, with the support of the French Art Dealers Association. The magazine PALAIS devotes its issue #18 to original contributions by these young curators.

Special guest for this issue 18:
The Exhibitionist, an American journal on curatorial practices and exhibition making, offers a subjective exhibition history through six particular examples, in both English and French, covering 70 pages to be discovered inside PALAIS magazine.
With texts by: Julian Myers-Szupinska, Constance Lewallen, Lars Bang Larsen, Tirdad Zolghadr, Dan Cameron, Zdenka Badovinac
When Palais de Tokyo and the magazine PALAIS invited The Exhibitionist to organize a special issue of the journal, we decided to compile all of the past “Back in the Day” contributions and present them as a loose and idiosyncratic history of exhibitions (…).Taken together, these essays offer a subjective, underrecognized exhibition history that runs parallel to the timeline of ‘landmark’ exhibitions.
—Excerpt from The Exhibitionist editorial by Chelsea Haines, Jens Hoffmann, and Lumi Tan
