Artissima proudly announces the members of the Back to the Future and Present Future 2013 curatorial committees.
Back to the Future
Artists for the Back to the Future section will be proposed and selected by a committee composed of prominent curators and museum directors:

The committee is coordinated by Eva Fabbris, Curator-in-Residence, Galerie de l’ERG, Brussels.
Back to the Future is a unique section of the fair that is designed to draw the attention of professionals, collectors and the general public to artists who were active in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, and who have played an important role in the history of contemporary art, but who have not always had the visibility they deserve. These artists, who hail from different countries and continents, are selected both for their innovative and experimental approach and for their ongoing influences on younger generations. Galleries participating in the Back to the Future section will present their artists through solo presentations of museum-like quality, in a central part of the fair.
The curatorial committee will both put forward figures for this section and select others from project proposals submitted by galleries wishing to participate in Artissima.
Present Future
In 2013, Present Future, the section of the fair dedicated to solo shows by young artists, will be expanded to include six young curators of international renown.

Over the years, Artissima’s notable section Present Future has proved itself to be an important launch pad for talented young artists, and a significant platform for disseminating new visions and approaches. This highly successful section has continued to evolve over recent years: not only have the number of booths and geographical scope grown, but it has become ever more central to Artissima, both physically and conceptually.
For the 2013 edition of Artissima, the committee will select a total of 24 artists and galleries to be featured in this section.
illy Present Future Prize
Presented during Artissima, the illy Present Future Prize is awarded to the most interesting project in the section, by a jury of international museum directors and curators. Since 2012, the award has taken the form of an exhibition produced by the winning artist(s), in the prestigious setting of the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art, Turin. In November 2013, an important exhibition by Naufus Ramirez Figueroa, Vanessa Safavi and Santo Tolone (winners of the Present Future Prize 2012) will be presented at the museum, curated by last year’s celebrated jury members Andrew Berardini, Beatrice Merz, Gregor Muir and Beatrix Ruf.

The next edition of Artissima will take place 8–10 November 2013 (preview and opening on 7 November) at the Oval, Lingotto, in Torino.
Artissima is the leading contemporary art fair in Italy, and, over the years, it has attained a prominent place on the international scene thanks to its experimental nature and its dynamic, innovative focus on both emerging and rediscovered artists.
The high quality of the artwork on display, the rigorous selection of galleries and a parallel programme of exhibitions and events that involves the whole city of Torino have turned Artissima into a vibrant hub of culture which attracts collectors, art lovers, professionals and a general public from around the world.
Alongside the Back to the Future and Present Future sections, Artissima 2013 will include Main Section, dedicated to the most interesting established galleries on the international scene; New Entries, which brings together remarkable young galleries from around the world that have been operating for less than five years; and Art Editions, inaugurated in 2012.
In 2012, Artissima welcomed 50,000 visitors to its 20,000 square meters of fair surface, with 180 galleries participating, from 30 countries. Furthermore, over 5,000 collectors from around the globe attended the fair, while 200 invited prominent collectors took part in the fair’s special hospitality programme.
This year, the fair is consolidating its collectors’ programme by attracting more collectors from new countries. Also in 2013, over 50 international museum directors and curators will visit the fair or be directly involved in its projects.
