Serpentine Gallery is expanding
The Serpentine Gallery is expanding. Our new space, the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, will open in 2012. Pioneering new programming across two sites and all art forms, including science and technology, will complement the existing programme of world-renowned exhibition, architecture, design, learning and public programmes.To take us forward into this exciting new phase, we wish to appoint two dynamic and experienced people for the posts of Head of Exhibitions and Head of Learning and Research.
Head of Exhibitions:
The Head of Exhibitions will work closely with the Director and Co-Director to devise and deliver programmes and commissions at the Serpentine Gallery, including the Pavilion, and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. Responsibilities will include managing the Exhibitions team and budgets.
Head of Learning and Research:
The Head of Learning and Research will work closely with the Director and Co-Director to plan and deliver the integrated programme of education projects and public programmes at the Serpentine Gallery and the Serpentine Sackler Gallery, incorporating online learning. Responsibilities will include managing these teams as well as budgets.
Applicants for each post must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of modern and contemporary arts in the UK and internationally. Essential requirements include a proven curatorial background, which includes successful delivery, integrated programming, excellent team management and working effectively in a fast-paced environment. Communication and editorial skills are essential. An active involvement in fundraising is vital.
