In 1980 the museum extended an invitation to young people to assist in the daily operations of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Today, it has developed into a competitive international program, providing interns with the opportunity to assist in the workings of one of the most extraordinary modern art museums in Europe. For aspiring young art professionals the Peggy Guggenheim Collection internship continues to be a fundamental starting point for a career in the art word and museology. The internship is an opportunity to gain in-depth exposure to modern masterpieces and to be involved in Venice’s premier cultural environment. One of the intangible values of the internship experience has always been the interaction between like-minded young people of many different cultures. Today, the museum hosts around 150 university students and recent graduates from as many as 40 countries a year.
The Peggy Guggenheim Interns Society will provide a platform for alumni interns to meet, get back in touch, network and share experiences. If you are a former Peggy Guggenheim Collection intern and you are reading this message, please contact us with your current contact details, and to receive information about the forthcoming activities. Spread the word to any other interns you know!
Calling all interns to touch base and to join our group The Peggy Guggenheim Collection: Interns Past and Present on Facebook!
