OPEN e v+ a, as Ireland’s preeminent annual exhibition of contemporary art, is an open submission exhibition, open to all artists world-wide, working in any and all materials, media, design practices, styles, genres, themes and concepts.

The Curator for the 34th annual exhibition, e v+ a 2010, will, as usual, exercise sole responsibility for adjudicating the open submissions, extending invitations to internationally prominent artists of her choice, selecting all the artworks and venues, designing the exhibition’s installation in city centre Limerick, assigning production budget allocations, determining the OPEN e v+ a awards and contributing an essay to the catalogue.
Raised with art, Hatz is an architect and holds an AA Diploma/ SAR/MSA, and is Professor of Architecture at KTH, the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. She teaches also at SAUL School of Architecture, University of Limerick since the start of that school in 2006.
As head of SAR (Swedish Association of Architects) in 93-94, Hatz co-founded Fargfabriken, the internationally renowned scene for Art and Architecture in Stockholm. She serves as an active board member since 1995. Fargfabriken has staged exhibitions of Maurizio Cattelan, Carsten Höller, Jan Håfström, Moment Ginza, Gunilla Leander, Mike & Doug Starn: Gravity of Light, Brion Gysin: INFLUENCE, The Expanded Book, Bo I. Cavefors, Christer Strömholm: On verra bien, Jean-Pierre Khazem &Andreas Angelidakis: Pause, Christian Partos,Sergey Schvemberger, Matthias Johansson among others.
Hatz leads the Government funded project “Artistic Research within Architecture” at KTH, within the AKAD, the Academy of practice-based research in Architecture and Design. She has exhibited work at Fargfabriken in 2004, at the Art & Science Festival 2005 and at Lund Art Hall in 2006, with the AKAD event “Beginnings”, curated the exhibition “The Dream Museum” at the National Museum in Stockholm and designed the international exhibition “Traces of Congo” which toured the four Scandinavian capitals. Her writings have been published in Sweden, UK and Ireland: for instance, Arkitektur(2003) and Architecture Ireland (2008, 2009).
