Descubrimientos PHE06
The Portfolio Review
Since the first edition of PHotoEspaña in 1998, Descubrimientos (Discoveries) has served as a catalyst for young photographers, offering artists the possibility of meeting with prestigious photography experts. This year the Review Panel is comprised of twenty professionals including: Alison Nordström, Curator of the George Eastman House (New York), Alejandro Castellote, Curator of C International Photo Magazine (London), Ute Noll, Photography Editor of the German daily Frankfurter Rundschau (Frankfurt am Main) and Chris Boot, Director of the publishing house Chris Boot Ltd. (London).
The Exhibition
This year, for the first time, the 60 finalists will have the opportunity to show their work in a collective exhibit held at the Matadero Madrid during the Festival. The selected portfolios will also be included in a series of nocturnal projections that take place in the Plaza Santa Ana. The reviewers will chose one portfolio for the Descubrimientos Vueling Best Portfolio Prize; this prize consists in an individual exhibition in PHotoEspaña 2007. Winners in recent years are: Vesselina Nikolaeva (PHE05), Comenius Roethlisberger (PHE04), Pedro Álvarez (PHE03), and Tanit Plana (PHE02).
