ARTISSIMA is proud to announce that as of 2004 the Fair has become official property of the local Authorities – Piedmont Region, Province of Turin and City of Turin – and is promoted by Fondazione Torino Musei, the Turin Museums Foundation.
It is a highly prestigious acknowledgment for ARTISSIMA, which in ten years has established itself as the most avant-garde contemporary art fair at an international level.
ARTISSIMA 11 will take place from 5th to 7th November 2004 at Lingotto Trade Fair Centre in Turin.
The eleventh edition intends to repropose the exclusive format that for professionals, collectors and the general public has made Artissima the key event for observing the latest art trends and emerging artists and galleries:
150 galleries selected among the most representative on the international contemporary art scene;
Present Future: 15 young artists to watch, proposed by their galleries and selected by a board of five curators (Patrick Charpenel, Emma Dexter, Heike Munder, Rochelle Steiner, Eric Troncy);
New Entries: 15 emerging galleries (opened after 1999 and new to Artissima) selected by the Board of Directors on the basis of their innovative activity.
ARTISSIMA 11 will be an even more stimulating and exciting event thanks to two special new initiatives:
Extralarge, section dedicated to large “museum” art works, selected by the Board of Directors among the proposals of exhibiting galleries. The works will be displayed in various areas expressly reserved in the fair;
Art Lovers, meetings with outstanding international collectors who will talk about their collection choices, tastes and passions.
A wide series of art events will take place in Turin during ARTISSIMA 11, including: at Castello di Rivoli a new display of the permanent collections marking the twentieth anniversary of the museum’s opening; at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo the show “Non toccare donna bianca”; in the town’s streets and squares “Luci d’artista”, light installations by famous contemporary artists and “Manifesto”, poster-size artworks by emerging artists; and other exhibitions, inaugurations and meetings in public and private venues.
