International Artexpo, the country’s largest and most comprehensive fine arts show, will bring together artists, gallery owners, publishers and art enthusiasts all under the theme, “Art is Everywhere.” The 2004 show, being held February 26 – March 1, 2004 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City, will feature exciting new events and programs, embracing the theme of “Art is Everywhere”. The show will demonstrate the diversity of art and its influence on our lives. From artistry in electronics to interior design, the show’s special events highlight art from different perspectives while bringing together artists and professionals from around the world in one comprehensive show. In addition, [SOLO] the new Independent Artists Pavilion featuring original, one-of-a-kind artwork will make its debut at this year’s show.
Charity Art Sale
Supporting Artexpo’s mission of carrying popular art into the future by continually cultivating and encouraging the artistic spirit, International Artexpo will host a Charity Art Sale where exhibitor donated art will sell at wholesale prices. All proceeds will benefit Art Start, a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering art among today’s youth.
Art Start is an arts-based youth development organization that provides free, multi-disciplinary arts programs for underprivileged youth and teenagers in New York City. Founded in 1991, the organization prides itself by replacing frustration and instability with a sense of accomplishment, confidence and direction to help children rise above hardship.
Special Events and Exhibits
For the first time at Artexpo, ArtBots, a global art exhibition for robotic art and art-making robots, celebrates the diverse and emerging world of artistry in electronics. A family of robots will interact with exhibitors and attendees alike, allowing the public to experience the sights and sounds of a growing new art form.
Additionally, changing people’s perception of urban art and supporting the “Art is Everywhere” theme, TATS CRU, a world renowned, New York City-based graffiti group, will be conducting demonstrations at the show Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Pushing for the acceptance of graffiti as an artform, the group’s work has received wide acclaim, both from the international art community and the media.
Building upon the future of art yet embracing its past, attendees will witness the unveiling of a never-before-seen exhibit of Picasso plates revealing rare personal insight into Picasso‘s creative genius. Sponsored by Titus Fine Art, the collection of etched copper plates features Picasso‘s famed illustrations and text for the poems of Gongora. The exhibit also presents progressive proofs of linocut prints and lithography, illustrating the creative metamorphosis of Picasso‘s immersion into the lithographic medium.
[SOLO]: Independent Artists Pavilion
International Artexpo is proudly debuting a special section of the show devoted to individual artists, who are not represented by a gallery. [SOLO] Independent Artists Pavilion @ Artexpo will showcase a variety of original, one-of-a-kind artwork ranging from paintings and sculpture to photography and objects. SOLO provides a fresh complement to art shown by our more established exhibitors and allows attendees to discover new talent.
