Editions & Artists’ Books ’02 just gets better and better. In a new, larger location, this unique Fair celebrates its fifth year as the premier showcase for contemporary publishers and book dealers exhibiting the latest in the medium of prints, multiples and artists’ books. Museum curators and collectors praise the event as pivotal within the publishing and contemporary art community.

Organized by Michele Quinn of Brooke Alexander Editions, Susan Inglett of I.C. Editions, and David Platzker of Printed Matter, Editions & Artists’ Books ’02 will take place at the Starett Lehigh Building in Chelsea located 601 West 26 Street on the 14th Floor. The opening reception, Thursday, November 7th from 5 to 8 PM, is being organized as a benefit for Printed Matter, Inc. an independent not-for-profit organization founded to heighten the visibility of artists’ publications and the world’ s largest distributor of artists’ books, magazines, audio and video works. General admission for the opening night is $25.00 with a second ticket price of $100.00 includes a set of multiples and books by Jenny Holzer. Brunch and a variety of special offerings on select works will mark Sunday, the last day of the Fair. Timed to coincide with the International Fine Print Dealers Association [IFPDA] Print Fair, Editions & Artists’ Books brings the history of printmaking begun at the Armory up to the minute. The Fair is also part of a citywide “Print Week” organized by the IFPDA to promote the medium of prints through exhibitions and symposia held throughout the week.

Twenty-three publishers of fine art prints and multiples will feature the best of contemporary prints and multiples. Participants have been invited with consideration to the variety and strength of their publishing activities and include both the well established and newly established. Participants include ACS Editions, NYC; Brooke Alexander Editions, NYC; Art of this Century, Paris/NYC; Baron/Boisanté Editions, NYC; Peter Blum, NYC; Cypher Editions, NYC; Exit Art, NYC; Editions Fawbush, NYC; Flatbed Press, Austin; Graphicstudio at the University of South Florida, Tampa; Dwight Hackett Projects, Santa Fe; I.C. Seven book dealers will be presenting some of the finest artists’ books, periodicals, exhibition catalogues, monographs and ephemera produced in the 20th and 21st century from Dada and Surrealism to Conceptualism and beyond. With the current renaissance in artists’ publications, Artists’ Books 02 will give connoisseurs a unique opportunity to see a diverse selection of rare documents from artists and publishers worldwide in a single location.
