The University of Fine Arts Münster (Kunstakademie Münster) is looking for a Professorship in Expanded Photography (W3) with an internationally recognized artistic practice that is prominently involved in the reflection of contemporary image production and its distribution channels, and that also sees this as a concern of artistic teaching. A high-profile, independent body of work, significant exhibition activity and the ability to lead an artistic class are expected. The willingness to participate in academic self-government and to help shape the University is assumed. Knowledge of German could be an advantage in this context.
The requirements for employment are set out in Section 29 KunstHG NRW (Art Colleges Act of the State of NRW). In addition to the general requirements under service law, prerequisites include, among other things, a completed degree, usually in the arts, and outstanding artistic achievement. Departing from the requirement of artistic studies, an appointment may also be made on the basis of a special aptitude for artistic work.
The University of Fine Arts Münster sees itself as an equal opportunities university and advocates diversity in its staff. The position is open to people of all genders (m/f/d). We expressly welcome applications from women. In case of equal suitability, severely disabled applicants will be given preferential consideration.
The University qualifies about half of its students in the Liberal Arts degree course and half of them in teacher training programmes. At the heart of this teaching is the joint studying in artistic classes and classroom colloquia. In addition to the international staff of artists, the University of Fine Arts Münster features excellent workshops. In particular, this also applies to the expertise as well as the analogue and digital technical equipment in the fields of photography and new media.
We look forward to receiving your application, which we ask you to submit digitally as one PDF file through our online portal by 31 January 2022. The appointment will be made for the winter semester 2022/23. More information (in German) on our website.
