The School of Art at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts is now accepting applications for the MFA Studio Arts degree. The early decision deadline is January 15, 2022, and the final deadline is February 1, 2022.

As part of an art school within a research university, the MFA program’s emphasis is on the creation of innovative modes of artistic production. Offering both a two-year and three-year program, our curriculum affords the opportunity to work within one of our nationally recognized areas or across disciplines, enabling graduate candidates to develop a course of study specific to their research and creative goals.

Program highlights:
—Merit-based tuition scholarships available for incoming applicants.
—Teaching opportunities: More than 30 courses taught by graduate students each year as instructor of record.
—Semester Residency: Fully funded semester residency programs in Los Angeles, Berlin, and New York City, where graduates are provided housing, studio space, resident faculty, weekly visiting artists, and exhibition opportunities.
—Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Nationally and internationally recognized artists brought to campus each year for lectures, workshops, and individual studio visits.
—Graduate seminars in art theory, professional practices, thesis writing and exhibition along with cross-disciplinary critiques.
—Grants offered each semester including summer to support graduate research.
—Generous private studios with more than 30,000 square feet of shared studio facilities in painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, jewelry and metalsmithing, 3D modeling and fabrication.
—Instructional Associate Positions: Work alongside faculty and staff with courses and managing studio facilities.
—Random Access Gallery: Graduate student-run gallery exhibiting invited national and international artists as well as graduate work.
—Thesis exhibition at the Syracuse University Art Museum and in New York City.
