The Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen awards around 40 fellowships each year in the fields of visual arts, literature and composition. Since the foundation was established in 1989, a total of about 900 artists have been invited. The fellowships are linked to a residency in the Künstlerdorf of two to six months each. The program is open for international applications and without age restriction.
The Künstlerdorf is located in the rural area near the Dutch border. Its guiding principle is that of a social space that promotes cross-disciplinary artistic and personal exchange and development. Space for a wide variety of activities and engagement is provided in the community kitchen, the garden, the workshop, the library, the gallery, the exhibition hall, and the surrounding area.
The Künstlerdorf Schöppingen puts value on collegial advice and the exchange of knowledge by providing a supportive and non-competitive setting. It encourages contributions to the temporary community of fellows and the local and regional environment.
