Explore curating as a creative and collaborative practice and gain professional experience in real-world situations, whatever your stage of practice and career.
New to our postgraduate portfolio, the MFA in Curatorial Practice explores curating as a creative and collaborative practice, to gain professional experience in real-world situations, whatever your stage of practice and career. Curating can take many forms from working with collections to temporary commissions or producing events and publications. Whether you are working with or as an artist, you will develop your practice guided by your interests and ambitions.
The course will help expand individuals’ creative, critical, and technical skills, as well as will also gain practical experience in exhibition-making and event production. Learning in the art school environment of DJCAD, individuals will have access to a shared curatorial studio space. Also, you will also have access to workshops, library, an exhibition and learning spaces.
Curating at Dundee differs from other courses in Scotland by focusing on the breadth of art and design knowledge and practices. As part of the course, individuals study in a UNESCO City of Design with significant galleries and museums, artist-led organisations, festivals, theatre, dance and performance spaces, and local authority-run projects.
Outside of the University, learning will be further developed through engaging with our institutional partner, the V&A Dundee, and other art and culture organisations in and around Dundee.
