The Royal Institute of Art and HDK-Valand at the University of Gothenburg are pleased to announce the launch of Sweden’s first center of excellence in artistic research, the Center for Art and the Political Imaginary (CAPIm) on October 23, 2024, in Stockholm.
The Centre for Art and the Political Imaginary is committed to interdisciplinary practice and research in the meeting between contemporary art and the future of politics. Based at two institutions of higher education in art: The Royal Institute of Art and HDK-Valand, the Centre’s aim is to facilitate connections between research and education through an engagement with experimental approaches. It is the first Swedish Centre of Excellence in the field of Artistic Research. The Centre is co-chaired by Prof. Mick Wilson and Prof. Natasha Marie Llorens, who together with Prof. Jyoti Mistry and Dr. Axel Andersson form its steering committee.
The launch presents CAPIm’s vision and initiatives, inviting stakeholders across the field to participate in discussions on the development of artistic research in Sweden and beyond. The event will conclude with a reception where refreshments will be served.
