Amsterdam University Press (AUP) was founded in 1992 by the University of Amsterdam . This young, rapidly growing publishing house boasts a backlist of more than 1600 English and Dutch language titles and publishes more than 80 new academic monographs and 15 scientific journals each year. The subjects covered range from European History, Arts, and Media & Communication to Asian Studies, Social & Political Sciences, and Linguistics. 

AUP has a critical, creative, and international character. The publisher aims at facilitating social and scientific debate by making high quality academic publications available to a wider audience. All scientific publications go through a rigorous peer-review process.
