Art can be a powerful catalyst for cultural and intellectual development, which is important for economic progress and social cohesion in the EU. The European Investment Bank’s art collection comprises some 900 works – paintings, photographs, works on paper, sculptures and installations. The current collecting policy has been designed to very gradually create a singular and long-term perspective on contemporary EU art. Alongside international exhibitions, internal exhibitions, loans and more, the EIB art collection is enriched by the Artists Development Programme (ADP). The ADP offers emerging European visual artists under the age of 35 the opportunity to develop their practice in a high quality professional context without any material constraints. It involves the creation of an art project under the mentorship of an internationally renowned artist. The mentors provide an exceptional tutoring and networking opportunity for young artists, while the exhibition of works from the project at the EIB premises adds the credibility of an established setting.
