The Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society is a research institute at the University of Chicago that supports unfettered collaborative research into the most challenging problems that we humans face. The Neubauer Collegium pursues its mission through three initiatives: faculty-led research projects that foster innovative, interdisciplinary collaboration to address complex questions, a Visiting Fellows program that brings scholars and practitioners from around the world to participate in humanistic research and academic programs on campus, and an exhibitions gallery that incorporates the visual arts into larger inquiry.

Neubauer Collegium Exhibitions present both historical and contemporary art in the context of the Neubauer Collegium’s interdisciplinary research. Visual arts, media, and material culture are central to the intellectual life of the Neubauer Collegium, helping to rethink the meaning of art and the contributions it can make to scholarly inquiry. Neubauer Collegium Exhibitions are curated to meet a range of objectives. Some shows complement or emerge from research projects supported by the Neubauer Collegium; others combine concerns common to multiple projects; and still others offer a singular vision and voice that resonates with the mission of the Neubauer Collegium.
