Radar is a commissioning and research programme based at Loughborough University which creates opportunities for artists to work in collaboration with academic researchers. Radar produces a programme of commissions and critical debate that invites artists to engage with research and develop new work. Our projects often engage with the contexts of our two campuses; in Loughborough, East Midlands, and East London, or are hosted by institutional partners. The work we produce is performative, participatory, process based and public. Radar projects are cross disciplinary and favour collaborative models which seek to advance the ways in which we think about research.

Recent projects include Risk-Related, a programme that considers how different forms of risk (political, economic, social, ecological) intersect, and provides space for artists to explore risky methods in their work, and Bodies of Knowledge, a programme departing from a series of artist-led workshops exploring the human body as a site for the production, retention and transformation of knowledge. Our upcoming programme will focus on ecology, asking how creative and collaborative approaches to the discipline might help us to grasp and interrogate the webs which connect lives, actions and histories at a local level to their global reverberations.
