Terremoto is a cultural platform dedicated to critical thinking around contemporary art in “the Americas”. Our editorial focus is influenced by anti-patriarchal and anti-colonial knowledge that encourages artistic and curatorial practices.

Terremoto emerged in 2013 in Mexico City as a blog. As of 2015, it became a magazine that publishes original content, available digitally since Issue 1 and on print from Issue 4 onwards. Our bilingual, free magazine is published three times a year with a free distribution of 3,000 copies in more than 20 countries on the continent and beyond. Each issue addresses a specific topic, offering a cross-sectional point of view on current artistic practices, curatorial discourses, and their links to the region’s socio-cultural issues through critical thinking. On a weekly basis and with free access, original contributions are published online in English and Spanish.

In addition to the magazine, Terremoto has diversified its activities, audiences, and outreach channels. Today, Terremoto encompasses an archive-based exhibition program (La Postal), a publishing house (Temblores Publicaciones), and a not-for-profit Civil Association (Asociación Terremoto). These pillars enable Terremoto to act as an interdisciplinary agency to devise and manage projects such as artist-in-residence programs, artist editions, public programming, among other initiatives across the hemisphere.
