In 2010, the Schools of Fine Arts of Tours, Angers and Le Mans were brought together to form the TALM School of Art and Design, the third largest public art education institution in France.
Founded in the middle of the 18th century, the Angers site (TALM-Angers) now has around 300 students trained by some twenty professors. Studies are organised in semesters and the school accompanies students on international mobility.
Between experimentation, theory, practice and research, teaching is provided by professionals, artists, designers, architects, theoreticians, etc. TALM-Angers offers courses organised around two options - art and design - and leading to diplomas worth respectively Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree: the National Diploma of Art (DNA) and the National Higher Diploma of Plastic Expression (DNSEP). Specialisations enrich these programmes: textile experimentation and artistic research (EXTRA); artistic practice and digital reactive technologies (PATTERN); cinematographic writing in animated narrative (ÉCRAN); fine arts, architecture, design (B.A.D) ; and Set Design (D2G).
A place of experimentation and transmission of knowledge, the school develops its openness to contemporary creation while questioning the history and current events of our world. Students are involved in a research process in order to prepare them for a high-level professional commitment.
