Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is a leading international museum of modern art. Located on the coast it strikes that rarest of balances between landscape, architecture, and art in a unique interaction that attracts visitors from around the world and makes a visit to Louisiana something special throughout the year. The museum, which is located 25 miles north of Copenhagen, with a panoramic view of Sweden across the Sound, presents six to ten special exhibitions annually and has a distinguished permanent collection with over 3,500 works. The Louisiana Collection is international in its perspective as well as its scale. It covers the period from 1945 to the present and includes almost every genre—with an emphasis on painting and sculpture. Here can be found major works by Picasso, Giacometti, Dubuffet, Klein, Warhol, Rauschenberg, Moore, Jorn, Baselitz, Polke, Kiefer and Kirkeby.

Louisiana is intended to be, to a great extent, a venue for cultural gatherings and debate. The comfortable, welcoming exhibition rooms, the spaciousness of the Park, the opportunity to pamper yourself in the Café and the Shop, as well as the many concerts, lectures and debates that take place in the Concert Hall in the evening—all contribute to making Louisiana a cultural center in the broadest sense. Through an extensively public programme, the Channel, and series of research, educational and cultural initiatives, Louisiana aims at stimulating a discussion about our society through art and artists’ insights.
