Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.) is a site of contemporary art and discourse production. It was founded in 1969 with the goal of presenting contemporary fine art to a broader public and of inviting that public to actively participate in cultural processes. n.b.k. aims to promote recent developments in contemporary arts and underline their social importance, understanding itself as a platform for the art scene in Berlin. With its exhibitions and events as well as its residency program, n.b.k. offers its collaborators the opportunity to research and develop projects in Berlin.

In 1970, n.b.k. founded the Artothek, wherefrom art enthusiasts can borrow works of international art from the 20th and 21st century free of charge. The collection comprises over 4,000 works and adds new acquisitions on a yearly basis. With the Video-Forum, n.b.k. hosts a collection of over 1,700 international works of video art. Since its founding in 1971, it has been expanded constantly through co-productions and new purchases.

Recent exhibition projects, among others: Rosa Barba, Dara Birnbaum, Geta Brătescu, Candice Breitz, Jimmie Durham, VALIE EXPORT, Harun Farocki, Hans Haacke, Alfredo Jaar, Joan Jonas, Allan Kaprow, Bouchra Khalili, Laura Poitras, Hito Steyerl, Thu Van Tran.
