Nadja Millner-Larsen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Experimental Humanities and Social Engagement, NYU. She is the author of Up Against the Real: Black Mask from Art to Action (University of Chicago Press, 2023), which reconsiders the contested intersections of art and radical politics through the history of the anti-art group Black Mask. Nadja’s writing has been published in GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies, Critical Correspondence, Grey Room, Women’s Studies Quarterly, Art Monthly, Triple Canopy, and numerous exhibition catalogues. She also co-edited a special issue of GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies on “Queer Commons” (2018). Nadja was an NEH postdoctoral scholar at the Getty Research Institute and a Helena Rubinstein fellow in critical studies at the Whitney Independent Study Program. She has previously held positions in the Department of Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths, University of London, and the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College. She received her PhD from the Department of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University. At XE, Nadja teaches a range of courses on interdisciplinary methods, critical theory, and political aesthetics.
