Sajan Mani Read Bio Collapse
Sajan Mani is a visual and performance artist born into a family of rubber tappers in Keralam, South India. His work centers the realities of marginalized people in India, the correspondence between animals and humans, and ecological questions. Recently, he initiated the transdisciplinary project Wake-Up Calls for My Ancestors, investigating colonial archives in Europe through a Dalit and Indigenous cosmology.

Caste slavery was legitimized through myths, and “justified” through spiritual means. Over the long span of thousands of years, such myths have been compromised and appropriated through many more stories. This is what we Dalits mean when we refer to the oppressive environment long upheld through Brahmanic knowledge production.
