Karrabing Film Collective, Day in the Life (still), 2020.

Join Bar Laika on Thursday, May 7, 2020 for a drink and a private screening of Karrabing Film Collective's Day in the Life (2020), followed by a Zoom Q&A with Elizabeth Povinelli. Full infomation on the screening is available here.

Day in the Life explores the ordinary obstacles Indigenous families face as they move through an ordinary day. Across five chapters—Breakfast, Playtime, Lunch Break, Cocktail Hour, and Dinner Time—and a audioscape directed by its younger members, DIL is a visual and sonic landscape that dramatizes and satirizes the settler forms of governance and extractive capitalism that Karrabing members encounter over the course of a day.

Karrabing Film Collective is an indigenous media group based in Australia’s Northern Territories that uses filmmaking and installation as a form of grassroots resistance and self-organization.
