e-flux presents Me, You, and Everyone We Know
Sara Eliassen, A Blank Slate | Part Two | Gendering, Disgendering, Transgendering
Wednesday, July 7—Tuesday, July 20, 2021

Sara Eliassen, A Blank Slate (still), 2014.

Join us on e-flux Video & Film for an online screening of Sara Eliassen's A Blank Slate (2014), streaming from Wednesday, July 7 through Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

A character is passing time in a desolate beach town. Slowly, the loneliness and alienation she experiences in the foreign town makes her enter into an uncanny delusional realm, that blurs the memory of her own experiences with that of women protagonists from film history.

A Blank Slate is presented here as one of five films and videos in Part Two | Gendering, Disgendering, Transgendering, the second of four programs in the online series Me, You, and Everyone We Know: Interrelationality, Alterity, Globalization programmed by Irmgard Emmelhainz for e-flux Video & Film. The series will run in four thematic parts from June 23 through August 18, 2021. Each part will include a two-week group screening, and a live discussion.

Sara Eliassen is an artist and PhD fellow in artistic research at Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Her work is a conceptual cinema practice, and also involves projects in public space, such as The Feedback Loop at the Munch Museum (Oslo, 2018) which revolved around a public screen intervention, a solo exhibition with guests, and a lecture/screening series. Eliassen’s films have played extensively at international film festivals, among them Venice Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, and Sundance. Eliassen was a studio fellow at The Whitney Museum’s Independent Study Program in 2010/2011.
