Join us on e-flux Video & Film for an online screening of Miguel Ventura’s How Shall I Love You, My New Little One? (2001), streaming from Wednesday, July 7 through Tuesday, July 20, 2021.

How should I Love You, My New Little One? tells the story of a patient, the artist himself, who, with the help of his child therapist, hopes to overcome his weakness and transform his disease into something useful for the post-revolutionary society. The healing process involves eating thirty glyph-shaped cookies which will impregnate the patient with a new language.

How should I Love You My New Little One? is presented here as one of four films in Part Two | Gendering, Disgendering, Transgendering, the second of four programs in the online series Me, You, and Everyone We Know: Interrelationality, Alterity, Globalization programmed by Irmgard Emmelhainz for e-flux Video & Film. The series will run in four thematic parts from June 23 through August 18, 2021. Each part will include a two-week group screening, and a live discussion.

Miguel Ventura (b. 1954, San Antonio, Texas) has been living and working in Mexico City since 1977. He has developed a body of work creating a new world with its own races and languages: NILC (New Inter-Territorial Language Committee). His atypical social model is presented through a series of video installations, objects, music, paintings, and drawings—employing parody and ridicule in order to label everyday patterns of societal behavior
