Manuel Saiz
2016

6 Minutes

Date
Repeat: Dec 15-16 ET

Subtítulos: saber sin estudiar (Subtitles: To Know without Learning) is an intimate film in which a sequence of handmade subtitles translate, confirm, or deny what the film’s only character says while looking at the camera. Written and spoken language play along to express the difficulty of a comprehensive meaning.

This screening is part of Voice Takeover, the second chapter of the online program Takeover curated by Julian Ross for e-flux Video & Film, and unfolding in six chapters between September 22 and December 15, 2022, with the films and videos of each chapter streaming for two weeks.
