Today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape poses new opportunities and challenges for curators and art professionals. From the emergence of media art and the Internet to the adoption of immersive technologies like augmented and virtual reality in exhibition-making, digital technologies have transformed the way we create and experience art. As a result, traditional curatorial methods need to be rethought.

Curating the Digital” is a six-month online program specifically tailored for curators and art professionals seeking to explore the possibilities and challenges of curating in the Digital Age. It will introduce participants to practical tools, technical expertise, and critical perspectives necessary to thrive in this constantly moving field of curating. By drawing on theories from media art, digital culture, and contemporary curating, as well as real-world case studies, we inspire participants to cultivate their unique curatorial approach by using digital technologies in a meaningful way.

The program will cover:
–Overview of diverse approaches to digital art and curating
–Review of new technological developments that are shaping the arts
–Case studies of hybrid art experiences that combine physical and digital formats
–Examples of creative curatorial experimentation with technologies such as AI, VR, and AR
–Introduction to tools for curating, designing and coordinating curatorial projects that utilize digital technologies

Throughout the program, participants will develop their own curatorial project using digital technologies, to create new ways of experiencing art that are multilayered, immersive and participatory. The dynamic curriculum includes a tailored series of theoretical and practical courses, interactive live sessions and ongoing mentorship through group workshops.

Please note that admission to the program is by application and requires candidates to possess an understanding of the fundamental principles of curating and contemporary art. If you are looking for a foundational program in curating, we recommend our International Curatorial Program.
