Maribor Art Gallery and KID DOG present David Foldvari, one of the leading young British graphic designers and illustrators. He was chosen among the 100 world’s best graphic designers and presented in Graphic Design for the 21st Century by Taschen. The list of his commissions is impressive (ad campaigns for Nike, Puma, Motorola, editorials for New York Times, Dazed&Confused, book covers for Penguin, record covers for London Records etc.), his style is described as rough and urban, his inspirations are the British street culture and Eastern Europe. David Foldvari creates his illustrations using a pencil, paper, filth, a Mac, tobacco and coffee.

In Slovenia David Foldvari is going to exhibit more than 30 of his works and lead a 3-day workshop with a group of Slovenian graphic designers/graffitists/illustrators, the results of which will be included into the final presentation.

KID DOG, a Designers and Graffitists Society based in Maribor, is the initiator and the co-organiser of the David Foldvari workshop and exhibition. Kid Dog’s main activities cover the fostering of international co-operation in the field of graphic design and graffiti art, setting up a network among creators as well as organising graphic design workshops and exhibitions.

More than 30 interesting and challenging works from recent years including personal works, book and record covers as well as ad campaigns will be presented. “Everyone always says I draw ugly people – I don’t think I do. I just try to draw people as they really are. I’m not really interested in featureless model types. I’m into grimey inner cities full of grimey inner city people. It’s reality as I see it.”
