We are excited to announce our call for Global Satellite hosts for Global Satellite Programme as part of ELIA Biennial Conference 2026.
Going Off Centre
In volatile times it becomes clear that no centre is fixed or permanent. Under the theme, Going Off Centre, the ELIA Biennial Conference 2026 explores what possibilities arise when we pull back from the mainstream and head to the margins. Together, we will reposition the art school not by restoring a lost centre, but by reforming as a body of knowing: a living, breathing whole that resists being bricked in by definitions, dogmas, or hierarchies. The in-person conference will take place on November 18–21 in Zwolle, the Netherlands, hosted by ArtEZ University of the Arts. Read more.
Global Satellite Programme
As an integrated part of the conference, the Global Satellite Programme is designed to extend the Biennial across time and geography. It begins before the conference, becomes part of the live experience in Zwolle, and continues afterwards through online, hybrid, asynchronous, or locally rooted formats. The programme will be accessible online to all Biennial registrants and ELIA member institutions.
By working across multiple timeframes and contexts, the Global Satellite Programme contributes directly to the Biennial’s themes, discussions, and public outcomes. It enables participation from ELIA members and collaborators worldwide, bringing perspectives, practices, and contributions into dialogue that might otherwise remain outside the in-person conference setting. Submit your proposal to co-create the programme.
Who can apply
Representatives of ELIA member institutions and collaborators, who may be outside the ELIA membership, such as artists or collective, cultural organisations or community centres, researchers or research groups, activist networks or local initiatives, and non-arts institutions.
Each submission must include at least one ELIA member institution as lead or co-organiser, and if based in Europe, the proposal must include a collaborator based outside of Europe. Not an ELIA member? Contact us to find out more about what we offer.
How to apply
Think beyond conventional online sessions and experiment with formats such as podcasts, vlogs, hybrid performances, social media interventions, collective mapping, global collaborative art projects, student-led activities, live online interventions, recordings, radio shows, or other off-centre approaches connected to the Biennial theme Going Off Centre.
