California College of the Arts is seeking applicants for the following faculty positions:

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Illustration Program
The Illustration Program seeks candidates interested in the role of illustration in social discourse. The successful candidate will be working across mediums and deeply engaged with emergent practices, such as the role of illustration in virtual reality, entertainment design, and new publication models. In addition, the candidate will be able to articulate the role of research in their work and integrate varied research methodologies into their teaching and classroom experience.

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Painting and Drawing Program
The Painting and Drawing Program seeks applicants with demonstrated interest in painting as a critical medium, who are fluent in both historical and contemporary trajectories of painting. Successful candidates will be versed in a wide range of issues affecting contemporary painting and have a strong desire to advance the discourse of art in broad cultural and educational contexts.

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Printmaking Program
The Printmaking Program seeks candidates who demonstrate a theoretical and historical understanding of the field, and a professional practice in the visual arts with expertise in one or more areas of print media: intaglio, lithography, relief, screen printing, monotype, book arts, and digital and photo-print processes. We seek dynamic individuals who are deeply engaged with the fundamentals of printmaking, articulate and critical in the classroom, and passionate about print as a form of visual expression and social engagement.

Assistant Professor, Tenure Track, Writing and Literature Program
The successful candidate will have an exceptional teaching record at the college level and will also demonstrate experience in teaching creative nonfiction writing. We are particularly interested in applicants with a literature background that supplements current program offerings and reflects the concerns and demographics of an international school situated within the unique culture and interdisciplinary environment of the San Francisco Bay Area. We are also interested in applicants whose creative practices promise to connect with the College’s fine art, design, and architecture students/faculty.

Chair, Open Rank, First Year Program
Collaborating with undergraduate program chairs and first year faculty, the First Year Program chair is a key academic leader whose collaborative work extends across Architecture, Design, Fine Arts, and Humanities and Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain, develop and administer a robust undergraduate first year studio curriculum that encompasses creative student engagement with both traditional tools and new technologies as well as innovative pedagogy, social engagement and critical discourse.
Reviews of all applications will begin in January.
