The Department of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, announces the opening of its new MA in Artists’ Film; a 12 month, intensively taught programme designed for artist filmmakers who want to develop their practice and their professional networks to a level that enables them to work within the art and film worlds.
The programme invites applications from artist filmmakers who want to develop a moving image project or projects (as these are understood in a fine art context) over the course of a one year MA. Successful applicants can expect:
–An intensive, tutorial and seminar based programme that focuses on the development of their own work
–The opportunity to be taught by many of the leading artist filmmakers in the UK
–An intensive seminar based course in the history and theory of artists’ film
–Bespoke technical skills training
–An innovative professional development programme involving curators, critics, producers and other film professionals from across the UK and Europe
Goldsmiths has the most important concentration of artist filmmakers of any fine art programme in Europe. Staff teaching on the programme will include: Oreet Ashery, Bonnie Camplin, Lucy Clout, Nina Danino, Stephen Johnstone, Simon Martin, Rosalind Nashishibi, Saskia Olde Wolbers, Michael Newman, Gail Pickering, Grace Schwindt, Lindsay Seers, Michelle Williams Gamaker and Rehana Zaman.
Student on the MA Artists’ Film programme will also have access to high quality resources including studios, editing suites, sound studios, film equipment and first-rate technical support and will have the opportunity to work with film and video organisations and galleries in London to provide a nuanced and integrated professional development component to the course.

Applicants should apply with a moving image project (as this is understood in a fine art context). We will consider applications involving all forms of moving image, including film, video, digital media and animation.
