The MA program at St. John’s University regularly hosts an exciting roster of guest speakers. The 36-credit program combines academic study; first-hand experiential learning; visits from guest lecturers working the field; and regular site visits. Students obtain expertise in the areas of curatorial practice, museum education, collections management, museum-specific communication techniques and 21st century technology platforms. Our classes, events, and lectures take place during evening hours on our Queens and Manhattan campuses.
Over the past year, our program hosted an exciting array of guest speakers, including: Ariana French, Chief Digital Officer, the Museum of Natural History; Celia Imrey, Architect and Installation Designer; Dr. Linda Konheim Kramer, former Curator/Department Chair, Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, The Brooklyn Museum, and Founding Director, Nancy Graves Foundation; David Schapiro, Art Appraiser; Alice Schwarz, Metropolitan Museum of Art Educator; Jeffrey Sigler, critic, poet, co-editor of DIA Art Foundation’s full career retrospective monograph on artist Carl Andre and former editor of the art journal, Parkett; John Tyson, Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow, National Gallery of Art; and Dr. Veronica Marie White, Curator of Education, Princeton Art Museum.
