Applications for the academic year 2016–17 are open for the postgraduate courses of the Visual Arts Department at NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, Milano

–The two-year Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies is the only program in Europe that unites a solid education in the field of visual arts production with a highly specialized curatorial program. Students explore visual culture, visual arts and performance, curatorial studies, exhibition design, contemporary art management, art criticism, writing, and communication. They also participate in a wide range of laboratory projects that allow them to engage directly with artists and professionals of international standing. Additionally, a series of interdisciplinary activities are conducted through lectures, workshops, seminars, and exhibitions aimed at producing new operative and educational models in the field of contemporary art.

–The one-year Master in Contemporary Art Markets is an intensive study program providing students with effective tools to interpret the dynamics and economics of today’s art market. The first part of the Master is dedicated to theoretical courses on the economy of art and the art market, art management, law and art, as well as courses on the history and valorization of collections, contemporary art history and museography. A number of thematic workshops, visits to galleries, museums and private collections are also offered. In the second part students will take on an internship, attend conferences by professionals, prepare the final project and visit the Art Basel art fair in Basel during a three-day field trip.

–The one-year Master in Photography and Visual Design prepares professionals for the world of photography, arts, national and international communication integrating theoretical study with laboratories and project workshops. In the first part of the program, workshops simulating real assignments in real technologically-equipped studios are conducted in collaboration with a network of partner companies and institutions and focus on various project areas from photography exhibitions to magazines, photo/video interactions, and corporate projects. The second part of the program is dedicated to a period of internship at selected publishing companies, editorial offices, photo agencies, photo archives, museums, galleries, or photo studios that could help facilitate the entry into the job market.

NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano, is an education Academy focusing on arts and design: it is the largest private Academy in Italy, and the first one to have been recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), back in 1980. The Academy was founded in Milan in 1980 upon the private initiative of Ausonio Zappa, Guido Ballo and Gianni Colombo; its objective always was to challenge the rigid academic tradition and introduce visions and languages that are closer to contemporary artistic practices and to the system of arts and creative professions. In 2009 NABA joined the Laureate International Universities, an international network including more than 80 accredited institutions in 28 countries. NABA was selected by Frame and included in the Masterclass Frame Guide to the 30 World’s Leading Graduate Design, Architecture and Fashion Schools, as well as by Domus Magazine as one of Europe’s Top 100 schools of Architecture and Design.
