2016 spring undergraduate exhibition

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) presents its 2016 spring undergraduate exhibition. More than 280 talented SAIC students completing undergraduate degrees this spring exhibit their innovative work. SAIC promotes crossing disciplines and challenging received assumptions, and the results of this approach are showcased in this exhibition.

 

ARTBASH 2016: Contemporary Practices exhibition
April 8–22

ARTBASH is the Department of Contemporary Practices’ major year-end art show, highlighting live performances and exhibitions of student work. The main ARTBASH exhibition comprises juried works, faculty selections, and site-specific installations by students in Contemporary Practices and the First-Year Scholars Program. During the opening reception, Contemporary Practices will also presentInter-Action—a showcase of live performance and ephemeral works.

 

48.24.12 video premiere

This video premiere features screenings of entries in the 48.24.12 Video Contest, which challenges students to shoot and edit a winning video in just 48 hours. At the end of the April 9 screening, a live jury will announce the winning team.

 

Undergraduate Performance Festival

Undergraduate students completing their degrees in Performance at SAIC present their thesis work in these not-to-be-missed programs that blur the boundaries between theater, movement, and the visual arts.

Film, Video, New Media, Animation, and Sound Festival
May 9–13

Encounter the next generation of undergraduate and graduate film, video, and new media artists as SAIC students present their thesis projects in this festival of innovative live-action shorts, animation, feature-length narrative and nonfiction works, and experimental digital and audio pieces.

Bachelor of Fine Arts Writing Program reading

Graduating students from SAIC’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing program present their work in an exciting evening that includes texts generated in traditional as well as hybrid and experimental forms. Come and experience fiction, nonfiction, poetry, scripts, electronic media, and performance as you’ve never heard, or seen, before.
