The European Graduate School (EGS) has two divisions: Arts, Health and Society (AHS) and Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought (PACT). Established in the Swiss Alps in 1994, The EGS has become one of the most relevant academic and artistic communities in Europe for philosophical, artistic and socio-political inquiry. Together with faculty, EGS students take part in the active evolution of what a University can be, while attaining an accredited Masters and/or Doctoral degree.

There are two streams in the PACT Division: Philosophy, Art, and Social Thought (PAS) and Literary, Musical and Visual Thought (LMVT). Masters and Doctoral students engage with brilliant and renowned faculty in their field (one session per year) to complete their first and second year coursework. For the rest of the year, students prepare for their sessions and work on their MA thesis or PhD dissertation with the guidance of their advisor or supervisor. The MA degree is two to three years, and the PhD degree is four to five years.

Now in its 21st year, The EGS is pleased to announce its debut session in beautiful Valletta, Malta (March 19–April 14). In PAS, faculty include Christopher Fynsk, Achille Mbembe, Victor Burgin, Siegfried Zielinski, Judith Butler, and Avital Ronell. In LMVT, faculty include Michael Nyman with Peter Price, Philippe Beck, Aflredo Jaar, Benjamin Bratton, Mike Figgis, and Hubertus von Amelunxen.

The EGS invites applicants from diverse and interdisciplinary backgrounds to now apply and begin their MA and PhD this spring in vibrant and stunning Valletta, Malta. Apply here. For applications before January 31 a discount is offered.

For more information, please visit The EGS website or contact the Office of Admissions with any questions.

The European Graduate School is governed by The European Graduate School Foundation (EGSF) with a Board of Directors that includes a representative of the accrediting state (Canton of Wallis, Switzerland) and is formally recognized as a University of Wallis and accredited as an institution of Higher Education within the European Qualification Framework (EQF) by the State of Malta (license number 2015-007).
