On Saturday, October 3rd, the CPPC is collaborating with The Museum of Modern Art and Wikimedia NYC to host a Wikipedia edit-a-thon (#WikiArte) for Latin American art and culture at MoMA’s Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building at 4 West 54 St. Its purpose is to provide an introduction to Wikipedia and to gather together a group of people to spend a fun and educational day together, socializing and adding to Wikipedia’s store of knowledge about Latin American art as we learn how to edit, create, and translate articles about Latin American art. No experience is needed, as training sessions and resources will be provided.

Childcare and refreshments will be provided (for childcare, please let us know your requirements by September 28), and there will be a culminating reception from 5 to 6pm. The event runs from 11am until 5pm, and you can come for the day or just pop in for a while, as your interest and time allow. Please bring your laptop and power cord if possible (a limited number of computers will be available on site), as well as any suggested topics you may have for articles that need to be augmented, created, or translated to or from Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

Training for new and less-experienced Wikipedia editors will be offered (in English) at 11:30am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm. Tutorials and resources in Spanish will also be available online. For information about international partners for Wiki Arte, please visit the WikiArte Meetup page.

Admission to the edit-a-thon is free, but please do RSVP.
