Established in the Swiss mountains in 1994, The European Graduate School (EGS) is comprised of its renowned divisions, Arts, Health and Society (AHS) and Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought (PACT—formerly Media and Communication). Composed of an outstanding and diverse community of artists, thinkers, scholars, and practitioners, EGS has become one of the most important sites in Europe for socio-political, philosophical, and artistic inquiry. As its research is pursued through intensive seminars, public forums, and lively debate, EGS is one of the most distinguished teaching centers in the world, challenging both its students and faculty with the active discovery of what a university can be.

Now in its 21st year, EGS is pleased to announce its annual graduate summer residencies in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, with sessions beginning in June, July, and August (applications still open*). Our cross-disciplinary, low-residency MA and PhD programs offer students and scholars an exceptional academic experience centered on our annual intensive seminar programs led by our eminent faculty in residence. This dynamic structure provides a critical and creative forum for our students and scholars to engage with distinguished thinkers and artists in their field.

Among this year’s faculty we are proud to welcome to EGS in the division of Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought, Rebecca Comay, Georges Didi-Huberman, Terrence Malick, Luc Tuymans, and Wim Wenders, among others. As well, we are very pleased to welcome back Giorgio Agamben, Simon Critchley, Mike Figgis, Boris Groys, Michael Hardt, Chris Kraus, Werner Hamacher, Barbara Hammer, Sylvère Lotringer, Geert Lovink, Catherine Malabou, Larry Rickels, Avital Ronell, Bruce Sterling, and many more. Within our Architecture & Urbanism and Digital Design programs specifically, we are excited to have with us Alisa Andrasek, Philip Beesley, Benjamin Bratton, Mark Burry, Keller Easterling, John Frazer, Rem Koolhaas, Sanford Kwinter, Neil Leach, Metahaven, Achim Menges, Casey Reas, François Roche, and Patrick Schumacher. Along with founding faculty Paolo J. Knill and Margo Fuchs Knill, the Arts, Health and Society division is happy to welcome Gina A. Alfonso from the Philippines, and welcome back, among others, faculty members Markus Scott-Alexander, Paul Antze, Sally Atkins, Herbert Eberhart, Barbara Hielscher-Witte, Michelle LeBaron, Ellen G. Levine, Stephen K. Levine, Elizabeth McKim, and Melinda Ashley Meyer.

In addition to its long-standing summer residencies in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, The European Graduate School (EGS) is proud to announce its new residency program in Valletta, Malta, beginning spring 2016 (21 March–13 April 2016). Further information and call for applications to come.
