This month, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (SMFA) will host a variety of exhibitions showcasing graduating student artworks. Admission to all exhibitions and related events is free.

May 11–14
The Cyclorama Show: Master of Fine Arts thesis exhibition, SMFA Boston celebrates the work of 52 graduating MFA students with a large-scale exhibition at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts. Artistic innovation and creativity are fundamental qualities developed during the School’s intensive two-year graduate program. Working in a range of media and methods, the artists will showcase thesis projects in film/video, painting, performance, sculpture, photography, installation, drawing, and more. The culminating Cyclorama thesis exhibition honors the artistic and educational achievements of this talented group of MFA candidates. Public reception: May 14, 7:30 to 10pm; performances: May 13, 5:30 to 7pm and May 14, 5:40pm; 8pm; 9pm. (The Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts, 539 Tremont St, Boston)

At SMFA’s commencement weekend kick-off party, the school invites visitors to explore the creative, boundary-pushing array of art produced by 2015 graduates, award winners, and Senior Thesis Program students. Open to the public with complimentary snacks, cash bar, and music. (SMFA)

Graduating students + award recipients exhibition features more than 50 graduating students from across SMFA programs, alongside 2014–15 award recipients including the Yousuf Karsh Prize in Photography, the Dana Pond Award in Painting, the Rose Hill Performance Art Award, and the Springborn Fellowship recipients. (Barbara and Steven Grossman Gallery, Katherine Lane Weems Atrium, BAG Gallery + Project Space, SMFA)

Senior Thesis: Strategic Plan 2015 showcases the creative accomplishments of 35 fourth-year undergraduate students who participated in this intensive one-year program designed to let student hone their practice. The exhibition features film/video, painting, performance, sculpture, photography, drawing and more. (3rd floor studios, SMFA)

Commencement
SMFA will hold its 2015 commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 17 in the Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Family Courtyard at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, celebrating 205 graduates from our six degree and certificate programs. SMFA’s commencement speaker will be Jordan Kretchmer, founder and CEO of Livefyre, a platform that helps brands and publishers launch creative websites that build their audiences. Named to Inc’s 35 Under 35 and the San Francisco Business Times “40 Under 40″ in 2014, Kretchmer is an accomplished product designer and creative director who has also held Vice President of Creative and Digital roles with Current TV, Butler Shine Stern and Partners, and Mullen Advertising. SMFA faculty member Gerry Bergstein, BFA student Dennissa Young, and MFA student Helina Metaferia will also make remarks.
