Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Design Practice
Full-time non-tenure track
USC Roski School of Art and Design at the University of Southern California invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track appointment in Design, open rank. The ideal candidate will hold an MFA in Design or a related field, or the equivalent in professional experience, and a minimum of three years full-time teaching experience at the college/university level (graduate and undergraduate preferred).
All scholarly and practice specializations will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in dimensional design and its applied technologies, and an ability to provide leadership within the school’s burgeoning 3D design track. In addition to having a broad awareness of and active presence in the design field, the candidate must be a team player who will mentor students and peers, and provide vision for the program within the strategic goals of this top-tier research university. The candidate should also be interested in forging relationships and building cross-disciplinary programs with other schools and departments at USC, including the schools of Architecture, Cinematic Arts, Communication and Journalism, Business and Engineering.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and mentor at the graduate and undergraduate levels. A senior appointment may also carry the expectation of administrative leadership for the program as the school expands its Design offerings, including the creation and implementation of graduate programming. Undergraduate students in the Design area currently include candidates for USC Roski’s BA and BFA degrees, a large population of minors, and majors of the USC Irvine and Young Academy. Graduate studies will include those in the forthcoming Master of Integrated Design, Business and Technology program, in partnership with Wired.

Associate or Full Professor in Studio Art
Full-time tenure track
USC Roski School of Art and Design at the University of Southern California invites applications, recommendations, and nominations for a full-time tenured senior practicing artist with a career of national or international impact.
Candidates should hold a MFA, PhD or equivalent in studio art or a related field, with a minimum of five years full-time college teaching experience and an extensive record of exhibiting work, curating, and/or publishing in the field. The ideal candidate will have an international reputation as an artist with a strong desire to join the community of diverse and world-class artists, scholars, and curators at USC Roski. USC Roski is at the forefront of art pedagogy, with evolving programs in which teachers rethink the interface between art and its publics from a making and interpretive or curatorial point of view. Working in a range of media from photography, painting, and sculpture to digital media, installation, performance, and 3D modeling, as well as in a broad curriculum of critical studies in art history and theory, USC Roski professors ask not only what art means and what it is for; they continually explore links among art, aesthetics, and politics, viewing art in relation to other modes of creative engagement and innovation. Accordingly, the candidate must be interested in challenging existing ideas and in developing new models for studio practice and studio education on the undergraduate and graduate levels, reflecting a deep interest in and understanding of current modes of contemporary art practice and global perspectives.
USC Roski places high value on peer and student mentoring. Candidates with leadership experience in developing and running programs will be especially competitive and preference will be shown to candidates who demonstrate the ability to forge ties with other USC academic units and forward the interdisciplinary goals and strategic vision of this research University. All tenured and tenure-track positions at USC carry expectations of service to USC Roski and to the University.
