A school residency is a unique opportunity for master and postgraduate art students to collectively work on a contemporary print project. Within an international context and in a well-equipped printmaking workshop, the students work on their artistic project guided by their teacher.

Every art school with a master or postgraduate programme can apply for a residency of one or two weeks. Students with no education in the graphic techniques are very welcome, as long as the school provides a teacher with the necessary background to help the students.

Frans Masereel Centrum is a graphical laboratory in which the possibilities of graphical applications are being researched, widened and reformulated. The focus is on creation and experimentation in the workshop. The project the school wishes to realize during the residency reflects this artistic view on graphical techniques.

We encourage schools to collaborate and to apply for a joint project.

Residency period: One to two weeks (Friday to Friday), between February 20 and March 20, 2015.
Student profile: master or postgraduate
Formula 1: 600 Euro per week (maximum of eight students and two teachers)
Formula 2: 300 Euro per week (maximum of four students and two teachers)
This includes accommodations and use of the workshop and basic materials.
For general conditions and house rules, please consult the application form.

Deadline: July 1
The application file consists of a correctly filled out application form and a clear content description of the graphic project. Fill out the web form to apply.

The open call for general, essay, and research residencies in the first half of 2015 at Frans Masereel Centrum will be launched shortly.
Deadline for application is August 1, 2014

Frans Masereel Centrum is a Flemish centre for graphic art founded in 1972. It offers residencies and a work place to graphic designers, artists and critics who want to work with intaglio, relief printing, screen print or lithography, or who want to investigate the relationship of graphics with other visual arts. Frans Masereel Centrum also organizes different graphic projects like exhibitions, open portfolio sessions, print related presentations, etc. It wants to stimulate new graphic practices in contemporary arts.
