The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, invites qualified professionals to apply for Manager/Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director position.
Reporting to the Chair, School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), he/she will provide overall leadership and management for the ADM Gallery, which includes two indoor exhibition spaces, the Interior Gallery and the Exterior Gallery, and the Outdoor Gallery.
The School is seeking suitably qualified candidates for the following areas:
– In conjunction with the ADM Gallery Committee, provide strategic planning for short- and long-range development, and assist ADM Chair with soliciting funding from government, foundations and private sources, as well as international contacts.
– Overseeing the work of contractors and monitoring tenders, budgets, deadlines, schedules and various contracts associated with the gallery projects as needed.
– Establish and administer all day-to-day operations of the ADM Gallery, including conceiving and organizing an annual exhibition schedule; financial management and planning; program administration; event promotion; soliciting funding; supervising temporary staff and volunteers; and communicating with artists and media.
– Develop and be responsible for all aspects of exhibition programming, including exhibition organization, interpretation, presentation, and documentation, as well as related educational programming in support of the educational goals of ADM.
– Develop a marketing and publicity strategy for ADM Gallery exhibitions and related events, including press releases, advertising, and gallery publications, for both print and electronic media in collaboration.
– In consultation with the ADM Gallery Committee, develop and establish a distinctive web presence and identity for the ADM Gallery on the NTU-ADM website.
Requirements
– Candidates must have passion for and working knowledge of local, regional and international contemporary art, with a minimum of ten years of directly related experience in public art gallery operations, including administrative, curatorial, and fundraising. Must have proven record as an exhibition curator at a public art gallery.
– The candidate must have an advanced degree in the arts or in a field appropriate to the position (Museum Studies, Art History) or PhD, MA or MFA in Art, or the equivalent demonstrated by a combination of education and experience.
– Professional experience with international digital arts exhibitions that include state of the art technologies including installation, performance, wall-based work, monitor, sound, online, and emerging genres.
– Professional experience managing the planning, presentation and administration of a university or cultural organisation’s gallery.
– The candidate must be capable of working independently and in a team-oriented environment as required. Competent leadership skills, excellent project management skills and the ability to work closely with ADM faculty and staff, consultants, researchers, scholars, architects, designers, contractors and other professionals is essential.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong analytic and complex problem-solving capabilities, accountable decision-making, demonstrated organizational abilities and well-developed cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
Excellent English written and verbal communication and a solid record of writing in the visual arts is essential.
Experience in fundraising and marketing is desirable.
