About The School of Art & Art History at UIC
We are committed to educating the next generation of artists, visionary scholars, creative thinkers, and innovators at one of the world’s most distinctive places to study art and art history. As part of a public urban research university, we foster the creation of knowledge that makes an impact on and transforms the world. Our School is the intellectual and creative home to some of the world’s most renowned artists and scholars. MacArthur geniuses, Guggenheim fellows, Whitney Biennial artists and curators, and distinguished, internationally acclaimed art historians have all taught here. We cultivate a place where art and art history can be studied intensively, with a one-on-one relationship between student and teacher and as part of a supportive creative community. We believe in the importance of interdisciplinary thinking and work and blur the boundaries of theory and practice, critical thought, and engagement. The work emanating from UIC has changed the way people experience, see, and understand the world.
