Princeton University’s program in Visual Arts, under the aegis of the Lewis Center for the Arts, is seeking applicants for a faculty position to teach undergraduate-level courses in photography and related media effective September 1, 2015, at the rank of assistant, associate or full professor.

The program invites applications from artists working in photography or an expanded definition of photography. The candidate must have a vibrant studio practice, an active presence and reputation in the field, a familiarity with a wide range of artistic concepts and methods, and undergraduate teaching experience. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability, indeed a commitment, to engage productively with students at all skill levels and an eagerness to foster a vital role for photography within the context of a liberal arts university.

The successful candidate will teach two classes per semester. S/he will work with the Director of the Visual Arts program on all aspects of the study of undergraduate photography as an art and its relation to painting, sculpture, filmmaking, graphic design, and the scientific and the humanistic studies at Princeton. Duties will include space and lab planning; junior and senior independent studio advising; and the mentoring of other students interested in the visual arts. The candidate will join an established interdisciplinary art center whose faculty work across disciplines to encourage the creativity and growth of our students. For more information about the mission and scope of the program visit our website.
